Labret and Monroe piercings are both classified as lip piercings.
A standard labret piercing is located just below the bottom
lip and right above the chin. A labret stud is usually worn with the
piercing.
Monroe piercings are the piercing of the lip that is placed
off center – usually above the upper lip and on the left hand side. The
Monroe piercing is inspired by its resemblance to the “beauty mark” of
Marilyn Monroe. Another variation of the piercing is two Monroe
piercings, each located on the left and right side of the upper lip, is
known as the Angel Bites. Common type of jewelries can range from captive bead rings (CBR) to a labret studs.
Also known as circular barbells because of its resembling
shape of a straight barbell. Similar to the straight barbell, the
circular horseshoe has a bead that secures the barbell on each end. The
circular horseshoe can be used on any type of piercing: helix piercing, cartilage piercing, eyebrow piercing, lip piercing, and etc.
Eyebrow piercings are the piercing from the bottom through
the top of the eyebrow which allows the jewelry to be secured in the
piercing. A common type of jewelry used for this type of piercing is the
curved barbells. However, circular horseshoes and captive bead rings are can be popular as well.
Dermal implants, more specifically, microdermal implants,
consist of two parts – the anchor and the ornament. The anchor is
implanted under the surface of the skin and the interchangeable ornament
is fastened into the threads of the anchor. Dermal anchors are
semi-permanent and have a very low rejection rate. When the piercing is
no longer desirable, the anchors can be removed with a professional
assistant leaving less scarring when removed.
The lippy loop's concept is similar to a circular horseshoe -
in order to equip the jewelry, a bead is fastened into the threaded end
of the barbell. The only noticeable difference between the lippy loop
and the circular barbell is its shape; while the circular barbell has a
more circular shape, the lippy loops asymmetrical shape resembles an L.
The lippy loop is designed to be secured and loop onto a lip piercing.
Nipple PIercings are piercings centered at the base of the nipple, normally pierced horizontally.
Nipple shields are body jewelries worn on the nipple,
encircling the nipple and covering the areola. The nipple shield is
secured on by the nipple piercing. The concept of wearing a nipple
shield is to ornament and emphasize the nipple, similar to any other
body modifications.
Nose piercings are the perforation of the skin or any
cartilage that is a part of the nose. There are different types of nose
piercing, the most common type being the nostril piercing. A nostril
piercing is simply as the name implies, a piercing of the nostril. It
can be located on either or both sides of the nostrils. There are
different types of nostril rings to compliment the nostril piercing –
stud with a ball/bead closure and the loops. The other less common nose
piercings are nasal septum piercings and the nose bridge piercings.
Nasal septum piercings are the piercing of the cartilaginous
dividing wall between the nostrils. Standard captive bead ring or any circular barbells (horseshoe rings) can be worn with the septum piercing.
Bridge piercings are the piercing of the small flap of skin
between the eyes at the top of the nose – not the bone. Common types of
jewelry to be worn with a bridge piercing are curved barbells and straight barbells.
