Tragus Piercings/Body Jewelry

Tragus piercings is done in front of the ear canal, for the purpose of inserting and wearing a piece of jewelry. The piercing itself is usually made with a small gauge hollow piercing needle, and typical jewelry would be a small diameter CBR or small gauge post style piercing jewelry. Tragus piercings are generally not very painful, due to the small number of nerve endings in the tragus. It is extremely necessary to not take off the piece while the regeneration is in process, taking it off on the very first days can cause damage to the cartilage and serious injuries in the future like infections or diseases; in an extreme case it can cause the loss of the anti - tragus and tragus.

Tongue Piercing/Barbells

 *images not owned by piercedfish*

Tongue Piercing is one of the most favorite body piercing in the World, besides ear and nose. Most tongue piercings are performed using a straight barbell in 14ga to 10ga using a standard needle piercing procedure.
When a tongue piercing is first done, a great deal of swelling occurs, which usually lasts as much as a week (some people find this first week very painful to the point where sleeping is difficult, but most people experience very little pain from tongue piercing). Total healing time is about a month, during which aftercare is limited to occasionally rinses with either salt water or mild mouthwash.

Titanium Anodized Body Jewelry

Anodizing is the process that changes the way the surface of the metal refracts light, resulting in different colors. An electrical current is applied to the metal and it increases the thickness of the oxide layer on the metal. Titanium body jewelry is anodized to create lots of different, pretty colors.

There are other websites that will sell body jewelry that says "Titanium Anodized" and have in very small print that it is actually stainless steel with a titanium coating. Titanium jewelry is more costly than stainless steel because most of it is implant-grade, as it is frequently used in medicine/dentistry. Selling the titanium coated jewelry makes people think that they are getting a deal on solid titanium.

Septum Piercing/Jewelry

Nasal septum piercings are less common than nostril piercings. The nasal septum is the cartilaginous dividing wall between the nostrils. Generally, the cartilage itself is not pierced, but rather the small gap between the cartilage and the bottom of the nose (sometimes called the "sweet spot"), typically at 14ga (1.6mm) although it is often stretched to a larger gauge (size). The nose has many nerves running through it and as a result, nose piercings can be painful, although it varies by individual. This piercing heals within a month and a half to three months also depending on the individual. It should only be stretched by 1mm at a time and it is advised to wait at least a month between stretches. If you go past a certain point, usually about 8mm, the cartilage gets forced towards the top of the nose, which can be uncomfortable.

In some country if the women's have there septum done, it means that there married, or show their social, tribal and religious status in society.

Dermal Anchors/Tops

A dermal anchor is a small piece of jewellery designed to be inserted into the body and is held or "anchored" in place by the surface tissue "dermal" around it. These implants need to be done by an experienced professional who can legally do them. Dermal anchoring is illegal in some US states. Not every piercer can do dermal anchoring because it's a technical implant that requires experience, skill and knowledge of human anatomy. There are also locations on the body where dermal anchors will not work due to tissue type, body movement and clothing requirements, so do some research beforehand. Dermal anchors are subject to tearing, snagging, infection and rejection and cannot be removed like regular jewellery. They are inserted into the body, so removal must be done by a licensed doctor. Removal generally results in lifelong scarring. If you ever need to go for a CAT or MRI scan, all jewellery will need to be removed, including the dermal anchors.

Ear Stretching Kit

The best way to stretch your ears is patiently and gently. People have different methods on how to stretch ears. I recommend people to stretch up slowly. Gently stretching the hole, and not to rush. Might as well be safe slowly stretching then to rush in to things and make it worst. Using a taper/expander or even a crescent. Push it in as far as it will easily go, then give it another twist and push, then stop. It should feel uncomfortable but not really painful. It shouldnt really 'hurt' , it definately shouldnt bleed, there should just be a warm glow in the lobe, very slightly painful. Go slowly, and Clean your fresh stretches at least once a day with saline solution (salt water).
