Titanium Anodized

Anodizing is the process that changes the way the surface of the metal refracts light, resulting in different colors. An electrical current is applied to the metal and it increases the thickness of the oxide layer on the metal. Titanium body jewelry is anodized to create lots of different, pretty colors.

There are other websites that will sell body jewelry that says "Titanium Anodized" and have in very small print that it is actually stainless steel with a titanium coating. Titanium jewelry is more costly than stainless steel because most of it is implant-grade, as it is frequently used in medicine/dentistry. Selling the titanium coated jewelry makes people think that they are getting a deal on solid titanium.
